Outsourcing
How You Benefit From Having A Personal Concierge
Last year I took a Finance and Investing class. I expected to learn about the typical things like IRAs and the stock market but something I didn’t expect to learn about was outsourcing. One lesson in particular centered on the differences between the broke, the rich and the extremely rich. On the topic of outsourcing: The broke outsource nothing; they complete every personal and professional task themselves. The rich outsource non-earning or non-income generating tasks. The extremely rich outsource all activities.
I’ve always believed in outsourcing things that aren’t your area of expertise; things like hiring a plumber instead of watching DIY YouTube videos or hiring a graphic designer instead of making my own logo on Canva. This was a new concept for me though. When I thought about how overwhelmed and frazzled I was trying to do everything myself, it clicked. The things I was running myself into the ground to do were oftentimes things that were not adding to my bottom line or I didn’t necessarily need to be the person doing them. Time is incredibly precious and the time I was spending on those things was time I could’ve been spending on income generating activities. Ever since then I’ve been focused on reclaiming my time.
Outsourcing whatever tasks aren’t critical for you to complete helps you optimize your time and keeps what’s most important to you at the forefront. Here are some tips for deciding what to outsource and how to best optimize your time:
Make a list of the responsibilities and tasks you complete daily, weekly and monthly.
Go through that list and ask yourself: Which tasks are the most impactful for my life and business? Is it critical or important that I am the only one completing this task? Which tasks can be delegated?
One thing I’ve learned along the way is that giving back to your family, your business and to yourself is sometimes about finding new ways to do the same old things. Whether it’s being an involved and present parent, partner, business owner or taking time for yourself, a personal concierge can support you in achieving your goals and ensuring you’re able to spend your time doing what matters most.
